In Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a neighborhood has been left shaken after quite the disturbing situation unfolded. In fact, one particular woman was left screaming in horror after making an unexpected find in her own backyard.
An unidentified individual was walking around the neighborhood when she walked past her home and saw something odd. However, after taking a closer look, she was left screaming in horror as she made an unexpected find in her backyard. In fact, it was so disturbing, police were immediately called to the scene.
When police arrived, even they were disgusted over what they saw. After a thorough investigation, they discovered that a young woman, later identified as 23-year-old Camille Wasinger-Konrad, had left her dead newborn infant in the backyard of her neighbor’s home.
According to The Denver Channel, police admitted that “the baby still had its umbilical cord attached.” Although the current cause and manner of the infant’s death are unknown, it is being determined by the Douglas County Coroner’s Office.
Camille had been renting a room at a home on the same block as where her deceased infant was found and had decided to leave the baby’s body in her neighbor’s backyard. She is currently being held at the Douglas County Detention Center on a no-bond hold. The investigation remains active, but the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has already asked the 18th Judicial District Attorney George Brauchler to pursue first-degree murder charges.
Like many other states, Colorado has implemented a “Safe Haven Law,” which allows new parents to hand over unwanted infants up to 72 hours after birth to an employee at a fire station or hospital with no questions asked. However, the law only stands if the baby is unharmed. Camille could have handed her baby over, unharmed, without any repercussions, which only makes the child’s murder all the worse.
According to Pix 11, Camille has “one prior conviction in Colorado, according to court records.” In July 2016, she pleaded guilty to felony theft of between $5,000 and $20,000 out of Jefferson County. She received a two-year deferred sentence.
People on social media were rightfully disgusted and weren’t afraid to express their outrage. “Liberals are Professional Baby Killers. The ONLY thing they’re good at,” one social media user wrote, while another said, “We live in a world where life is not valued anymore. One of the factors I think contributing to this is abortion. You don’t want a life, you just throw it away. And then, of course, there’s the humanistic philosophy. We are a sad people.”
Another social media user added, “Selfish leftist losers at work,” and another used the opportunity to take a jab at Rosie O’Donnell, saying, “If Rosie had a daughter…”
