Per reports, the police chief reportedly issued a statement, saying the officer did not see a parent on the scene during the initial contact with the 10-year-old boy.
The boy’s mom, later identified as Latonya, was reportedly found at a nearby business a shortly after. The responding officers then told her that the boy was going to get a youth court referral.
The officer then took the boy, Eason, to the police station. “It was an error in judgement for us to transport the child to the police station since the mother was present at that time as a reasonable alternative,” the police chief said. Read the full story here ▶
