Newborn Baby Rescued After Father Buried Her Alive In Sandpit

We live in a ‘disposable’ society. We have disposable just about everything, cell phones, cups, and the like.

But one thing that will never be disposable is life – a human life or the life of an animal.

Tragically, a newborn baby girl was buried alive in India.

Villagers in the Jaipur district of Odisha were able to rescue the infant when they saw her feet sticking out of the ground.

She was just about 6 hours old when she was left to die.

In the village, sons are the preferred child and having a girl is something that people try to avoid.

But, you can’t choose the sex of your baby.

Female infanticide is quite common, according to an article in Time magazine, around 2,000 girls are killed in the womb each day in India.

Baby girls are seen as a burden in the patriarchal society.

Efforts are underway to help enforce laws against the determination of the baby’s sex before birth.
