Mom With 4 Small Kids Begged For Help But Was Ignored – Only To Hear A Tap On Window, She Says

Being a single parent can be extremely difficult, just ask Tawny Nelson who recently went through a rough patch while raising her four daughters on her own. Things had not been going well for Tawny ever since her partner left them to fend for themselves.

Her financial situation was not great since she had four growing girls to feed on her own. As a result of that, the family car was left in bad shape. With a flat tire that she constantly needs to pump air, b-roken window motor and a need for a new alternator belt, she only used the car when it was absolutely necessary to do so.

But one rainy night, they desperately needed groceries so the five of them went for a quick run to the store. Once they have loaded groceries to the car, the vehicle wouldn’t start no matter how Tawny tried.

She was stranded in the parking lot with her four daughters aged 9, 5, 2 and a 6 weeks old. To make matters worse, she was not able to call anyone because her phone was disconnected.

Tawny wrote in a post on Facebook, “One of my girls as mistakenly left a light on. My battery was d-ead. I have no family to speak of and was on my own. I must have asked more than twenty people in the course of two hours for a jump. They all ignored me. Not even a no. Just acted like I didn’t exist.” “My 5-year-old was melting down.

My newborn SCREAMING, my two year old crying she was hungry, and my oldest desperately trying to help. I was bawling and felt like the worst mom ever.”

When everything seemed hopeless, she heard an old man with a bad limp knock on her window. An elderly man, most probably in his 70s, gave Tawny a plate of chicken strips, biscuits and some water from a deli nearby. He asked her to feed her girls and herself. He also said that he arranged for a tow truck to come get Tawny’s car and his wife was on the way to fetch the ladies back home. The tow truck came, the old man’s wife arrived to fetch them and the girls were finally back home.

The Next Morning

The story does not end there though because the next morning, the old man appeared at Tawny’s front door along with a mechanic who had replaced her vehicle’s battery and alternator as well as fixed a b-roken window.

She was beyond grateful and when the elderly man left, she asked the mechanic how much was the total cost of repairs and whether it was possible to pay in installments. He said that everything had been taken care of as the old man had settled her bill.

She went on to write, “He said that the only payment the older man wanted was for me to never give up and keep being an amazing mom. I’ve never cried so hard in my life. And without knowing us or our situation this kind man helped us in ways he will never know. What he did revive my faith when I was falling apart. But he wouldn’t even take a hug.”

Although she could not thank him, she hopes that one day she can help someone else the way the elderly man had helped her.
