A Florida man allegedly posted a sex tape of his ex-girlfriend to Snapchat — all because he thought she wasn’t taking care of his dogs while he was out of town.
Jonathon Stokes, 26, was arrested Monday, July 8, and charged with first offense sexual cyberharassment, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
The victim reportedly saw the explicit videos of her on the social media platform, which were allegedly posted by Stokes, and then went to the police. She also told the investigators that the videos followed angry posts Stokes had made, claiming she wasn’t caring for his dogs while he was away, according to a Volusa County Sheriff’s Office report obtained by The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
The victim confessed she gave Stokes, her ex-boyfriend, consent to record — but not to share it online.
After investigators “clearly identified” the couple to be Stokes and his ex, they confronted him at his house. Stokes initially denied the accusations but “admitted” to ranting about her in a series of posts, the local outlet reports.
However, after the authorities told him that they had seen the video clips on another phone, he allegedly admitted to the officers he posted the videos “out of spite.” He claimed he deleted the videos from his account at the suggestion of a friend, according to the sheriff’s report.
Stokes has a criminal history that includes assault on a person 65-years-old or older and resisting a police officer in 2013, as well assault and marijuana possession in 2014, according to Newsweek.
Stokes was released the same day on $1,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on August 20.
