A Lincolnshire woman is celebrating an incredible body transformation after losing has lost over eight stone in just 12 months.
Kay Lucas-Carter, from Brigg, won Slimming Worlds’ ‘Woman of the Year’ award, for the second time in-a-row, after she went from 20st 12lbs to 12st 10lbs in just one year.
She said she felt ‘miserable’ as she struggled to walk up stairs without ‘getting out of breath’ before her weight loss and was borderline type 2 diabetic.
Kay said: “I can’t express how much it meant to me, to get the recognition; from my own group for woman of the year.”
“I joined to change my habits and never had a weight in mind to reach. I had a dress size I wanted to get to, but this was more about how I felt and I have always been vocal about that.”
“My understanding is that Slimming World endorse this feeling too – it’s your personal journey and they’re there to help you and enable you to achieve.”
The only issue she has had as a result of the turnaround, is changing her entire wardrobe, after dropping dress sizes multiple times.
She said: “I’ve spent a fortune on a new wardrobe but that’s a happy pay off! I have dropped from a dress size 22/24 to a 12/14.
“I even adjusted the seat in my car to get nearer the steering wheel.”
Kay says she is eating more now than ever before – but all ‘the good stuff’ like veggies and salad.
Not only has the group transformed Kay physically, but she now wants to be a role model for others who are trying to undergo a similar change.
She added: “I couldn’t have been prouder of what I had accomplished. I also am incredibly chuffed hearing how others have felt inspired or motivated by me. That is by far the biggest ‘award’ for me.”
“I am healthier and fitter than I have been in years. I am walking at least 3 miles a day and others from group have joined me. I have also started jogging.”
