Lewes Senior Activity Center plans dessert drive-by for volunteers April 21

A dessert drive-by to thank their dedicated volunteers will be held by the Lewes Senior Activity Center Wednesday, April 21. Come by between 10 a.m. and noon to pick up a sweet treat and a cup of coffee as they celebrate their volunteers this week.

The board of directors and staff are holding the dessert drive-by as a way to show their appreciation for LSAC volunteers who have kept the center going though this past year.

“The  Lewes Senior Activity Center is excited to acknowledged our many volunteers,” said Irene Soroka, vice president of the board. “Thank you to all who have helped us through this very difficult year. With over 1,300 members, the center wouldn’t be able to do it all without their help.”

“From our Trading Post Food Bank, our flea market fundraiser, to baking and donating deserts for bake sales and to go lunches, our volunteers have been there for the center,” she continued. “Even during the COVID crisis, our volunteers have pitched in, taking temperatures at the door, staffing our reception area and helping us with our mission of keeping our members active and social until we are able to resume full time hours.  To all of you, a huge thank you! ”

The center, located at 32083 Janice Road in Lewes, promotes health and wellness for individuals 50 or older, offering fitness and exercise classes, arts and crafts classes, social get togethers, affordable travel, and community service opportunities for its members.

Classes and activities currently offered at the center include yoga, tai chi, balance and strength training, walk aerobics, line dancing, Zumba, and ceramics.
