A visitation dream is one where you dream of a deceased loved one, and at the end of the dream it really feels as if they had come and spent time with you.
Some people have described having this type of dream shortly after the death of a loved one.
Patrick McNamara Ph.D. wrote an article that was published in Psychology Today and pointed out there is research that has identified common elements in visitation dreams.
For example, the deceased person often appears to be healthy in the dream, and they are trying to convey comfort and reassurance to the dreamer.
Sometimes, according to McNamara, the deceased person appears to be much younger too.
The message of peace and reassurance is not conveyed with words, but with a telepathic or mental message.
