Death Penalty sought for alleged Florida killer who turned friendly fishing trip into a bloody massacre

Investigators are working on the Florida fishing trip murder case wherein prosecutors are seeking the death penalty of a Florida man who was involved in beating and brutally killing three men on their friendly fishing trip. On Tuesday at the Polk County, Florida, circuit court, the State Attorney’s Office had filed an intent in order to seek the death penalty for the 26-year-old suspect Tony ‘TJ’ Wiggins Jr.

The murder incident happened on July 17 at around 10 p.m. wherein three friends were found brutally beaten and shot to death after leaving their homes for a fishing trip to a secluded Frostproof, Florida, lake, in Polk County. The victims of this incident were Damion Tillman, 23, Brandon Rollins, 27, and Keven Springfield, 30.

After three days, Robert Wiggins, 21, Mary Whittemore, 27, along with Wiggins were arrested in connection with the case. Furthermore, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd believes that it was Tony Wiggins who was responsible for this entire incident acting as a ‘trigger man’ and was the person who did most of the damage at the crime scene.

Judd had previously reported about the incident that had taken place just a few minutes before the shootings wherein Wiggins was seen standing behind Tillman through the security camera at a General store where both men arrived at the same time to buy items. Wiggins was seen talking to Tillman on the security camera footage.

According to Judd, the encounter that happened is bizarre as Damien was seen having a totally civil conversation with Tony that did give an effect of both knowing each other. However, what followed this incident was more tragic than anything else for Judd in years of his experience.
