The couple in this picture look like decent people. But looks can be deceiving. They are Aislyn Miller, 24, and Kevin Fowler, 25.
The couple, along with three grandparents were arrested in December for child neglect in Oklahoma.
The couple’s nine-month-old twins weighed as much as one healthy baby and had infected wounds and severe diaper rash.
Miller and Fowler were arrested when the babies were hospitalized for their injuries.
A nurse said that one of the infants had maggots in her genitals.
One of the children had feces in their ear.
Miller claimed that the condition of the children was the result of little to no parental experience. Oh, come on – really?
It doesn’t take a genius to know babies shouldn’t have open wounds.
If a baby isn’t fed, it is going to cry – that is all the clue most people need.
A crying baby needs something – as a parent, it is your job to figure out what they need and give it to them.
Did she want an owner’s manual?
The grandparents, Cathey Miller, 54, Johnny Miller, 47, and Rita Fowler, 65, were also arrested for failure to report child neglect, which is a misdemeanor.
The infants and two older siblings were taken from the home and placed into the custody of the Department of Human Services.
I guess, having had two other children wasn’t enough parental experience to handle the infants.
According to the Children’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, over 538,000 children were neglected in 2010.
How a parent can neglect their child is beyond me.
