Poll: More than 40% of voters oppose Biden’s handling of influx of immigrants at U.S. border

More than 40% of voters have a negative opinion of President Biden’s handling of the recent influx of immigrants at the southwestern U.S. border, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen.

On the question of “How is Biden doing with the border situation,” 44% of respondent said they did not support it, while 38 percent voiced support for it, and 18% said they were unsure. 

Homeland Security Security Alejandro Mayorkas acknowledged Thursday that the border surge is the biggest in the past 20 years, largely driven by expectations in Latin America that Biden’s immigration policies would be softer than former President Trump’s.

The influx of thousands, as resulted in unaccompanied minors have to stay in facilities beyond the federal guideline of 72 hours.

The detainment of thousands of illegal immigrants has also presented an optics problem for Biden, who has pledged to have a more humane border policy than Trump. 

The survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted by Rasmussen on behalf of Just the News using a mixed mode approach from March 11-13, 2021, and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percent.
