This is a love story of epic proportions! Maryanne and Tommy got married in July 1995 despite all the doubts and fears of having a happy future. Both Tommy, 59, and Maryanne, 46, have Down syndrome and not many people thought they would have a chance of staying together – two decades later, and the couple are still happily married and living in Essex. Maryanne’s mother lives next door, and they have family just a few doors down.
Maryanne and Tommy met at a local training center for individuals with learning differences. Tommy knew after only 18 months of dating that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Maryanne.
