14:35 PT – The NFL also dealt with allegations within the lawsuit … calling them “without merit.”
“The NFL and our club are deeply committed to ensuring fair working practices and will continue to make progress in providing equal opportunities across all of our organizations. Diversity is at the heart of everything we do, and our club and internal management team do little. Spend more time defending these demands.”
14:33 PT – The New York Giants have responded to Flores’ lawsuit … and they’re in the hiring process.
“We are pleased and confident in the process that led to the hiring of Brian Daboll. We interviewed an impressive and diverse group of candidates. The fact is that Brian Flores was in the discussion as our head coach until eleven o’clock. In the end, we hired the person we considered most qualified as our next head coach.”
Brian Flores has burned ground in the NFL and the New York Giants … in an explosive lawsuit in which former Dolphins head coach claims the team’s hiring practices are rooted in racism, and he claims the text Bill Belichick prove it.
The 40-year-old coach filed a class action lawsuit through attorneys Douglas H. Wigdor, Michael J. Willemin and David E. Gottlieb in New York District Court on Tuesday … and that’s shocking.
Flores says he received a text message from his former boss and Patriots head coach the day before Giants was interviewed. During the conversation, Flores says BB congratulated him on his new gig.
BF was confused by the comment because he had not yet had access to the planned interview and asked Bill if he had any inside information about their decision.
Belichick finally admits he read the information he got wrong … and tells Flores that it was actually a different Brian – Brian Daboll – who got a job at Giants.
Flores argues that this is proof that he was only brought in for an interview to meet the Rooney rule, which requires teams to interview a minority candidate head coach when the job opens.
For information, Flores and Daboll both worked together under Belichick in New England.
BF claims he was “forced to sit down to dinner” with the new Giants GM Joe Schoen despite “knowing that the Giants had already chosen Mr. Daboll.”
And Flores says this wasn’t the first time he’d had a “cheat interview held just to comply with the Rooney rule.”
The dismissed coach says he interviewed the then CEO of Broncos John Elway and other Denver leaders in 2019 … However, Brian says “it was clear from the content of the interview that Mr. Flores was interviewed only because of the Rooney rule.”
Flores also claims that Elway and the other Broncos executives arrived an hour late for the interview and “looked completely confused, and it was obvious they had been drinking a lot the night before.”
Brian, who points out that there is only one black head coach (Mike Tomlin) and 6 GMs – sue all potential black coaches and front office workers.
Flores is asking the court to remedy the NFL’s alleged discriminatory pay practices in addition to damages.
There’s more … Flores also blames the owner of Dolphins Stephen Ross offering to pay him $ 100,000 per loss – with the goal of getting the season full and getting a better draft selection.
Flores says when he refused to play ball, he was branded hard to work with and was eventually fired.
“This reflects a far too familiar stamp of an‘ angry black man ’who is often thrown at black men who are strong in their morals and beliefs, while white men are passionate about the same qualities, the lawsuit says.
Flores – who is currently without a coaching show – understands that the lawsuit could potentially prevent her from getting a job in the future.
“God has given me a special talent for coaching football, but
The need for change is greater than my personal goals, ”Flores said in a statement issued by his attorneys.
Brian continued … “As I make the decision to file a class action complaint today, I realize I may be in danger of coaching a game I love that has done so much for my family and me. that a positive change will be made for future generations. “
