Inmate tunnels through wall in jail to stab man in neighboring cell

A shocking incident unfolded at Rice Street jail in Atlanta when an inmate allegedly dug a hole into another cell and brutally stabbed the inmate inside. Law enforcement officials have since pressed charges against Kavian Thomas, the perpetrator of the violent attack.

According to reports, Thomas managed to dig a hole through a wall in a shower stall at Rice Street jail on May 17, effectively granting him unauthorized access to the adjacent cell block. It was there that he launched a vicious assault on Derondney Russell, another inmate housed in the facility, as disclosed in a press release by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.
