One British man was spotted with quite the extraordinary face covering. While most people use a surgical mask, bandana, or some other type of fabric covering to help slow the spread of COVID-19, one man decided to use a living snake as his mask. The “snake charmer” was spotted (and photographed) aboard public transportation on the Swinton to Manchester service at Salford precinct when the bystander captured his bizarre snake-face covering on camera.
Other passengers were appalled that this man did not take the threat of the deadly coronavirus seriously. It has been proven that when people wear face masks and face coverings in public, the virus loses. This was why China and other countries were able to defeat the virus so quickly – residents adapted to wearing masks. Meanwhile, in the United States and the United Kingdom, people continue to refuse masks and even gather in large groups to protest the mask mandates.
However, this man’s mask did not want to stay put. It unraveled itself from around the man’s face and then started stretching itself out onto the handrailing on the public transit vehicle.
Everyone aboard admitted that the scene was “definitely entertaining.” However, it put other people at risk of death due to COVID-19 since the man was not properly masked. This bothered many passengers who moved far away from the potentially-contagious man riding public transportation with a snake instead of a real face mask.
One passenger, who did not want their name reported in the news, said that they thought the guy was wearing some sort of “funky mask” until the thing actually moved and began slithering all over the vehicle’s railing. This woman found the stunt “really funny” but worried that dimwits might follow this guy’s lead and wear snakes instead of masks.
Local authorities condemned the man’s publicity stunt. Now they are on the hunt for him and are working with the Daily Mail to extract the man’s name from the public. Images clearly showed that the man was not wearing a real face mask or covering underneath the snake. It is mandatory for people on public transit to wear some sort of covering over their nose and mouth unless they’re extremely young or suffer from some sort of health condition or disability that prevents them from properly covering up.
A spokesman for Transport for Greater Manchester said: “Government guidance clearly states that this needn’t be a surgical mask and that passengers can make their own or wear something suitable, such as a scarf or bandana. While there is a small degree of interpretation that can be applied to this, we do not believe it extends to the use of snakeskin – especially when still attached to the snake.”
A female witness, 46, told the Manchester Evening News, “He had it wrapped around his face like a mask getting on the bus. At first, I thought he had a really funky mask on. Then he let it crawl around the handrails. No one was really bothered on the bus, but a man behind took a video. It was definitely entertaining.”
